Author Topic: Mac OSX Ventrilo and Speex Codec  (Read 19706 times)

In my Guild in World of Warcraft, we have several players that previously used a Windows-based laptop to connect to the Ventrilo server I have running. With the new release from Flagship of the Mac client of Ventrilo, these Mac users have been getting an error regarding the codec the server uses.

I changed the codec from GSM to Speex (the codec the Mac client requires) using the web-based configuration manager from your hosting company and restarted the server, even trying out different qualities of Speex, but the client-side program does not recognize the change for these players. Also, the log files are not reflecting the codec change either.

Your help on this topic is greatly appreciated. Eliminating a hassle for some in-game friends of mine would be a godsend.

I have one of my friends who is a Mac user. She keeps getting some sort of Codec error, and can't connect. The server runs on Codec: GSM 6.10 (11025 Hz, 16 bit), is there any way of Her connecting without changing our server codec (maybe a Mac codec download or something)?
Cheers!

You need to change the server codec to use one of the speex codecs.
